One of the rarest, but unfortunately increasingly forgotten specialities of Tokaj-Hegyalja, Fordítás (i.e. ’turning’) is made by macerating the aszú berries pressed into a fresh wine, in the Tokaj-Hegyalja tradition. Fordítás is made only in suitable vintages. As 2013 was one of the best years for aszú in Hegyalja in recent decades, and our Fordítás features exceptionally high extract. It is generous and intensely aromatic, but with zesty acidity and a much lower sugar content than is usual for aszú. A rich and complex wine with aromas of ripe exotic fruit, mushrooms, tobacco and vanilla, a lively citrus finish and a hint of mineral, oaky flavours in the background, with a subtle tannic sensation to add freshness to the sweet palate.
Food pairing: excellent on its own as a dessert, it can also be served with less sweet desserts, mature cheeses and blue cheeses. It is particularly good with desserts containing orange, nuts or honey. Serve chilled at 10-12 °C.
