The Tokaj character
The characteristic feature of the Tokaj-Hegyalja wine region is the aszú production – shrivelled, botrityzed berries with very high levels of sugar – that occurs from year to year thanks to the combination of the soil, the special microclimate, the surrounding rivers (Bodrog, Tisza) and the appropriate grape varieties (Furmint, Hárslevelű, Sárgamuskotály, Zéta, Kövérszőlő, Kabar).
